Wills and Probate

Our Will Service

A Will is probably the most important document in your life and the only document which deals with every penny you have including your home and valuables and far too important not to instruct an expert Lawyer to prepare on your behalf.  Reeve, Fisher & Sands Wills and Probate Services are professional, efficient and friendly.  We appreciate that each person's circumstances are different and each Will is tailor made to suit your requirements.
We will take time to understand your needs so that your Will will achieve all that you desire and ensure that your wishes are carried out after your death.
When a person dies without leaving a Will, the law says that they have died intestate and the estate is divided amongst members of their family according to the rules laid down in the Administration of Estates Act, if there are no family members the estate can be forfeited to the State.

The fact that a couple have lived together for many years gives no automatic entitlement to the estate of the first to die, unless they are married to each other or are in a legally assigned civil partnership.

Please also remember that substantial savings in death duty can sometimes be made by having a Will.

If you would like us to prepare your Will, please contact our Elm Park office in 01708 474019 and/or make an appointment to discuss your requirements.  The initial consultation will be free of charge.

If you consider your estate to be simple requiring a simple Will, this can be prepared at a special price and you may use our Will questionnaire which you can submit online.   Once we receive this, you will be contacted by telephone and we will inform you of our fixed price for this service whereupon you can confirm if you wish to go ahead.  We will also inform you if we believe your requirements are more complicated than you first imagined so that your Will is right for you and your circumstances.

We will send you a draft copy of your Will which you will be asked to read through carefully to ensure that it correctly reflects your wishes.   Once you confirm to us that the Will is correct, we will prepare an engrossment of your Will for you to sign.

After your Will is signed, should you wish us to keep a copy at our office on your behalf, we would be more than happy to do so.

OUR PROBATE SERVICES

When someone has died, the last thing the family needs is the complication of winding up the affairs of a loved one.  We will be there for you to give you all the help you require and we will ensure that the Estate is administered with sympathy, with professionalism and efficiency.

Our service is designed to lessen the load at a difficult time.  We will complete all the legalities, obtain valuation of all the assets of the Estate, deal with the tax issues and complete the necessary tax return.  We will apply for a Grant of Probate (or Letters of Administration if there is no Will) and once the Grant is obtained we will gather in the assets of the Estate, administer them appropriately and ensure that the Executors meet their legal liabilities in administering the Estate.

We will help minimise your burden and keep you fully informed every step of the way.
